Wednesday morning- AQUAPONICS EXPLORATION!

After morning exercise and breakfast, we headed over to the Island School Aquaponics center.  Aquaponics is a hybrid between hydroponics and aquaculture that allows the school to grow herbs, salad greens, and tomatoes while also cultivating Tilapia.

We helped out with chores around the center- some of us seeded lettuce, basil, and parsley, others netted Tilapia, fed fish, or harvested crops.

Once we had done our chores, we all gathered together to Filet the Tialpia we had caught for use in the dining hall… we’ll be sure to update you as to how it tastes!
